Stainless-steel CO2 vent pipe fabrication
Client:
Green Beacon Brewery, Geebung
Project description:
Stainless-steel CO2 vent pipe fabrication
Design, fabricate and install a stainless-steel CO2 vent pipe. This pipe was needed to vent CO2 formed in the brewing process safely outside the building, so it didn’t accumulate inside the facility causing a possible safety risk to employees.
What were the challenges?
- The brewery has many tanks and associated equipment located in a small facility. Space was very restrictive.
- The CO2 pipe needed four inlets spaced accordingly around the brewing tanks.
- The pipe then needed to exit through the roof of the building.
How did Davis Welding and Fabrication solve these challenges?
- A site visit was conducted to ensure all requirements were clearly understood by our team.
- Measurements were taken of how we could fit the pipe amongst the existing equipment.
- A proposed design was submitted and discussed with the client
- Once approved the pipe was 95% manufactured offsite in our workshop
- To ensure resistance to corrosion and to abide by the highest hygiene standards 316 grade stainless steel was used and all joints in the pipe were purge welded.
- To fit in with the client’s production schedule the install was planned outside their operating hours on a Saturday.
Project result:
- The pipe was fully functional for the following Monday’s production as requested.
- The pipe fitted perfectly as planned, only minor welding was carried out onsite to install some brackets to support the pipe.
- The addition of this pipe has eliminated a large safety risk within the client’s production process.
