Project Description
Our client Terazzo Concrete Construction was commissioned by Tall Ingots Metal Recyclers to construct a complex concrete machine foundation for metal recycling equipment.
This was an expansion of the existing busy operating Tall Ingots recycling facility at Yerongpilly, Brisbane.
What were the Challenges?
The machines to be installed weighed approximately 160 tons. The strength, structural integrity and rigidity of the foundations were therefore paramount for effective future operations and safety.
Stress and tie down points for the machinery had to be structurally re-enforced with prefabricated galvanized steel reinforcements.
How did Davis Welding and Fabrication solve these challenges?
Davis and Welding manufactured galvanized steel concrete reinforcements to specific engineering design standards to ensure the required load-bearing strength for future operations of the machinery.
Elements included heavy galvanized plates custom welded with galvanized rebar reinforcements. Galvanized rebar was also customized with additional welding and fabrication. These rebar modifications support edge protection for concrete pits and trenches required for the machine foundations.
To achieve required load-bearing strength, two structurally re-enforced and co-joined layers of concrete were placed at successive stages to achieve the required strength.
To support the installation of the reinforcements, DWF Managing Director Kynan Davis attended the worksite on several occasions. Work alongside the client, during the planning, installation and construction phases helped to ensure that the galvanized steel concrete reinforcements were fit for the intended purpose.
Project result
The galvanized steel concrete reinforcements were expertly managed and installed with assistance of Davis Welding and Fabrication.
Our involvement contributed to the construction of the machine foundations, heling to ensure safe and efficient operations of the machinery.
