Galvanised Steel Structure Replacement
This job involved a galvanised structure replacement required to support two large gear motors.
Client – Food Processing Plant, Brisbane
What were the challenges?
- The existing structure was heavily corroded and needed to be replaced.
- The job needed to be completed in a two-day weekend.
- The gearmotors and steel structure were very heavy and there was no access for a forklift or crane.
How did Davis Welding and Fabrication solve these challenges?
- We decided to fabricate the galvanised steel structure replacement structure in two sections which bolted together. This allowed for easier fabrication, transportation, and installation of the heavy parts.
- A counterbalanced engine crane, a series of jacks, trolleys and lifting equipment were used to execute the job.
Project result
- The galvanised steel structure replacement fitted exactly as planned with all gearmotor mounting holes lining up as they should.
- The frame was assembled, welded into position, and completed ahead of schedule.
